Autumn Winter 2011-12 Collection by Marc Jacobs

on 5/3/11

Taking a look at the recent Autumn Winter 2011-12 New York Fashion Week, The Trend Boutique felt that the range by Marc Jacobs was one of the more directional & standout collections. New York is always safer than some of the other Fashion Weeks and clearly caters for their own American audience & sensibilities, however we felt the recent collection by Marc Jacobs had all the traditional trademark signatures of this designer with a mix of directional feminine cuts & detailing, all very wearable with instant appeal.

After the seventies-inspired Spring Summer 2011 collection we saw Marc Jacobs deliver a slim fitted collection with polka dots the main theme running throughout the show. Styling-wise there were jaunty pill-box hats atop of swishing pontytails, whilst teaming the collection with patent wedge boots gave the collection a more casual feel especially when co-ordinated with hooded jackets. Interestingly fabrics played with the idea of luxury with unexpected interpretations & twists.

A more sombre Latin American feel, similar to that predicted for Spring Summer 2012 by The Trend Boutique, was created  through effortlessly mixing Guipure lace with deep empire necklines that were filled with contrast lace and edged with the all-important dots. Lace was seen throughout the Autumn Winter 2011-12 collections and as per the Marc Jacobs collection was often seen in black as an overlay or in these richer shades.

With yet another impeccable collection The Trend Boutique can see why Marc Jacobs remains such an important part of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion. Although this collection on first view has a simple concept running through it, the effortless execution is undeniable.
