Contemporary British Designer Karen Ryan
on 1/3/11
As featured in our report, Karen Ryan's unique projects are spot on trend for our Spring Summer 2012 'Heritage' trend. "Iconic design classics are re-invigorated & re-coloured to create a contemporary take on the heritage theme", and that's exactly what Karen Ryan does with her custom made pieces.

Throughout Karen's work she questions, "What is the product of design?"

Beauty Platter by Karen Ryan
We love the juxtaposition Karen creates within her ceramic pieces by disrupting patterns with a modern turn and providing a mesh between the old and the new.
Karen writes, "I damage secondhand old plates. I remove the decorative patterns that camouflage our everyday lies and in its place I leave words that prick our conscience and create portraits of hidden domestics left open for others to interpret."
