Eco Luxury

Up until the recession the idea of luxury and environmental, ethical & ecological ideals seemed like a complete paradox. The very principal of the luxury goods and their ‘extortionate’ price tags were at complete odds with those fighting for fair wages & conditions, one Louis Vuitton or Gucci bag with an average price of £1,000 could probably feed an Indian worker on less than 50p an hour for more than 6 months. Added to this with the seasonality & ‘IT’ status of many luxury goods it has always been difficult to reconcile the two worlds.
The Trend Boutique have seen that despite this the Eco-Luxury market is expanding rapidly with new products being launched on a daily basis and labels starting to really flaunt their eco-credentials as a major selling point to their brand. This year we have also seen the first Sustainable Luxury Fair - 1.618 in Paris where an eclectic mix of fashion, product, tourism, and transportation brands came together, all illustrating that the Eco-Luxury looks to be an influential trend.
