The Trend Boutique love the simplicity of Portuguese product designer Goncalo Campos whose furniture designs have an effortless charm to them. Fitting perfectly with our more pared-down & basic design aesthetic, these are pieces that would look great in any home or interior space.
In Goncalo's own words he "tries to be simple, paying attention to the materials and the production methods available, combining them in unexpected ways, playing with the possibilities they can offer, which often results in surprising objects".

The 'Esa Tables' are held together by strips of fabric knotted together, the knots are made through the holes in the wooden parts which are drilled, and ensure that the furniture maintains stability through the tension created by the knots. The purpose of the design was so the furniture could be assembled without using any adhesives or extra tools, only by commonly found household items.
Each different piece is intended for a different use, for example there is a high-platform pedestal which could be used to hold a picture frame or a great ornament, ranging all the way down to a low one which could be used to hold a small potted plant.

What is great about these simple pieces of furniture is that because there are no glues or fancy finishes they actually let the beauty of the materials shine through. A basic concept that in Goncalo Campos' hands become stunning pieces. We also like the rustic qualities that give it a real 'rurban' feel, a direction that The Trend Boutique are covering for Autumn Winter 2011 & beyond.
