A darker take on the Autumn Winter 2011-12 "Folk" trend that we are already starting to see make its way into stores. a+z's Gipsy Collection takes inspiration from the folk culture of Hungary and Transylvania and fits in perfectly with the "Intense Folk" trend direction.

a+z Design was founded just last year by the Hungarian design duo Attila F. Kovacs and Zsuzsa Megyesi. The Gipsy Collection came from a joint desire between Attila and Zsuzsa to keep many of their disappearing cultural traditions still alive.

a+z felt that many of the items used within the gypsy and folk culture of Hungary and Transylvania had become overlooked or obsolete, yet each of these objects has a story and centuries of traditional craft techniques behind them. a+z wanted to give these items new lives in a contemporary design context keeping the narratives and soul of the products.
