on 23/10/10

A rather strange concept, but one The Trend Boutique admire for its sheer audacity & simple message. Artist Justin Gignac creates capsules of garbage found on the streets of New York that create their own microcosm and capture a unique moment in time.

Each piece that Justin creates is carefully picked to give a snapshot of the famous city and acts like an mini time capsule referencing what happened in this busy metropolis World Series at the Yankee Stadium, New Year's Eve in Times Square or even the Republican National Convention. He was even commissioned to create these unique little pods to celebrate the St Patrick Day's Parade.

Maybe not something you would immediately see yourself purchasing, but you can understand the appeal as the contents are fascinating & slightly mesmerising. A unique take on the idea of recycling that offers the buyer a one-off souvenir or a memento of the very city itself.
