Ornate Hosiery by Bebaroque

on 16/10/10

When completing our Interfiliere trend report we came across Mhairi McNicol and Chloe Patience, the talented textile designers behind Bebaroque.  We really like the high level of embellishment & craftsmanship that has gone into this ornate hosiery to create real statement pieces.

For Autumn Winter 2010-11, Bebaroque have been inspired by all things Spanish with their aptly named collection 'Matador'.  Intricate embroidery and surface detailing of pearls, beads and hints of gold and silver are influenced by beautiful Spanish paintings, fabrics and the traditional dress of the nation.  Base fabrics are a rich mix of velvet, silks and mesh with Bebaroque's signature prints to give the look of embroidery on the skin.

Since launching in 2007, Bebaroque has gained the prestigious award of Accessory Designer of the Year 2008 by the Scottish Fashion Awards in association with Vogue, and the PSYBT Regional Young Business of the Year Award 2009. Fairly impressive for the first couple of years of trading, & testament to the strength of their design skills & originality.

This season sees the introduction of a Bebaroque Ready to Wear collection with tailored jackets and high waist skirts teamed with delicate bodies and embellished tights in a colour palette of nude and black with flashes of colour in the detailing.  The look is opulent and feminine hinting at a bygone era.
