Recycled Paper Jewellery by Littlefly

The Trend Boutique like the concept behind jewellery range by Littlefly & designer Jeremy May with each item created by reworking books, including some of the classics, into these brand new keepsakes.
Each piece is impossible to replicate and unique to the wearer carrying a serial number, what is more remarkable though is that Jeremy selects a distinct quote from the book to inspire the appearance for the piece of jewellery. Whether the book chosen is by the owner or it is one chosen off the shelf, each piece is a unique miniature work of art. The jewellery reflects the trend for individuals to be more sustainably minded as well as fitting in with the concept of bespoke & reworked designs that The Trend Boutique feel is really important for Autumn Winter 2011-12.

Serial no.105 "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" by Littlefly
Using a process of layered compression and lacquering, he takes the vintage books and creates these newly formed jewellery designs. The way Littlefly sources its books even has a story of its own with each book being chosen for its history, whether people have bought, read, doodled, sold, swapped or given them as a gift becomes part of the very make up & heritage of piece. The books come from far & wide which also adds to the romanticism of it all with books being picked up from a vendor on the Les quais de la Seine, Paris, a second hand book shop in the university district in Tokyo, to Vathis Square in Plaka, Greece whilst others are simply donated.
As the text and images pass all the way through each piece of jewellery whilst only being exposed at the surfaces, it reveals a tantalizing glimpse of the writer’s story and also the artist’s vision.
