Spring Summer 2011 Menswear Collection by Agi & Sam
on 26/5/11
The Trend Boutique absolutely love the Agi & Sam menswear collections, we've already featured them in our recent Autumn Winter 2012-13 trend direction 'Sharp' and now want to share with you their Spring Summer 2011 collection.
Agape Mdumulla and Sam Cotton launched their menswear brand for Autumn Winter 2010-11 and debuted their Spring Summer 2011 collection, 'The Native American Colonisation of European States', at London Fashion Week Menswear day as part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout and are now represented by Fashion East.

The duo met whilst working at Alexander McQueen and founded the label in January 2010 with a fresh, playful approach to mens clothing. Agi and Sam aim to fit firmly in the middle of "countless menswear collections displaying either a fear to create something different or collections which push too far and never seeing the light of day" and we think they fit perfectly within the New-Milleniuls - 'dressing with more focus & drive whilst adding in the odd quirky touch for originality'.

The Spring Summer 2011 collection draws on tongue-in-cheek imagery; dissecting pop culture whilst looking back to an idealised notion of the Native American way of life presented in Wild West movies such as 'Once Upon a Time in The West' (1968) by Sergio Leone.

References are torn apart, manipulated and reassembled to create eye-catching, wearable clothes with a humorous twist. With a strong emphasis on entirely bespoke print and humour, Agi and Sam believe that fashion should never be taken too seriously.

Aiming to be revolutionary in their approach to print design and stretching the boundaries of digital printing, Agi and Sam experiment heavily with texture and colour. We love the patterened trousers, and their toned down colour palette still makes them accessible.

A minimal approach has been taken with the separates, with superfluous details and seams removed to create simple but intelligently made garments.
