on 27/5/11

Another up and coming menswear brand that we have recently featured in our Autumn Winter 2012-13 'Sharp' trend is Mjölk, a luxury menswear line based in New York City under designer Lars Stoten.  The Trend Boutique have been speaking about a return to heritage for a while now and what makes the Mjölk brand so special is that they are part of a small group of designers within New York City commited to re-invigorating the legendary Garment District.

In our Spring Summer 2011 trend 'Heritage' we spoke of craftsmanship being celebrated and brand quietness being a fundamental aspect, making sure the quality of the materials, manufacture, & superior design to shine through. Mjölk have a team of local tailors and work closely with local craftsmen and seamstresses, and source fabric, trims, and notions in Manhattan.

Mjölk also proudly source yarns and produce handknits in Australia, using Geelong wools.  These produce a finish on the hand-knitted garments they claim is of an unparalleled quality and essential to their collection.

Mjölk footwear is produced in exclusive partnership with Frank and Josepi, Italian master craftsmen with 100 years of combined experience between them.  Every pair is entirely handmade to order using traditional cobbling techniques, creating a custom product of impeccable beauty and unparalleled quality.

All Mjölk leather goods are hand-crafted by a family of fifth-generation Swiss cordwainers.  Using only 100% vegetable dyes and whole-piece vintage leather, multiple products are cut from the same piece of hide to minimize waste.  Every piece is hand-cut, hand-finished, and hand-sewn, ensuring a product of consistently high quality and uniquity.

Griffiths.
