till 10-07-2011
Location: London, UK
Venue: Victoria & Albert Museum
Url: http://www.vam.ac.uk/index.html
The Victoria & Albert Museum will be host to the first UK exhibition celebrating the life and work of Yohji Yamamoto, one the the most influential and enigmatic fashion designers in the world. This installation-based exhibition takes place 30 years after his initial Paris debut, and will feature over 80 garments looking back over Yohji Yamamoto's career.
The installations will explore the work of the designer who has challanged, inspired and provoked the world of fashion and will of course provide a great source of inspiration & reflection.
Conceived as a site-specific installation with it's centre piece in Gallery 38, as well as smaller installations through out the gallery, Yohji Yamamoto's menswear collections will be included in the display of his work for the first time.
Each of the spaces within the exhibition takes on its own meaning with in the narrative which explores Yohji Yamamoto's design world. After the 2010 exhibition at the Barbican about Japanese fashion, this is yet another example of how influential & ground-breaking these designers have been, and none more so than Yohji Yamamoto.
