Zoeli Rota Galindez for Resign
on 2/8/11
The Trend Boutique are really interested in the work of Argentinian designer Zoeli Rota Galindez who has recently contributed to the design group 'Resign' on the concept of re-using and re-cycling waste materials. Within the group, she develops her design vision taking into account the symbolic value of the object itself, considering its history & the relations with those who have owned or used it.
The Trend Boutique find these pieces have real resonance with the idea we put forward in our recent trend direction where products are developed from human 'momentos' - seen within our Autumn Winter 2012-13 'Fragility' trend report. What is interesting about Zoeli's work is she feels the previous owner adds the value to the product.
'Poltrone' Chair by Zoeli Rota Galindez
In 2011 Zoeli exhibited at Salone del Mobile in Milan with two collections. We are particularly interested in the second collection exhibited at Salone del Mobile, 'Embodied Memory', part of which is the 'Poltrone Chair'. This project started from a chair found on Murano Island, Venice, the chair carries an embedded value; given by its history and place of retrieval. The designer has taken action on the object by printing her body onto the chair, to convey impressions, memories and feelings in the users, they can be very different depending on their experiences.

'1000 Bubbles' Installation by Zoeli Rota Galindez
The first of the two collections exhibited was '1000 Bubbles Chandelier' in the Salone Satellite, exhibited with the Resign group. The chandelier is made up of hundreds of burnt light bulbs; taken from a hospital, held securely in place by hand woven hemp wire to create a tridimensional net.
